Let’s begin this post by saying: we had so much fun with this project! This family of four (and their fur babies) moved into their new construction home a few years ago and had a hard time bringing their modern vision to reality during that process, until now. At Interior Impressions we believe your home should be a representation of you and your family. In the first phase of this home refresh we gave their open concept kitchen, dining and living rooms, powder bathroom and master bedroom a moody, monochromatic, modern facelift.
KITCHEN + DINING ROOM
A little goes a long way to update a space. In the kitchen the client had new quartz countertops installed that provide maintenance-free durability in a timeless marble inspired design. One of our easiest recommendations to transform a space is to update lighting. Beautiful tear drop pendant lights suspend over the island and kitchen sink to provide plenty of task lighting and modern classicism. A fun sputnik chandelier hangs over the dining table, which contrasts with the rustic style dining table and side chairs and compliments the new modern captain chairs with iron base and channeled body. The kitchen island is also now home to these beautiful loom counter stools, an Interior Impressions’ all-time favorite!
LIVING ROOM
Like the kitchen and dining room, the living room blends modern and warm elements. These new custom side chairs feature a deep seat with a sleek sloped arm in a gray and white pinstripe fabric. Mid-tone wood feet on the chairs tie in to the cognac leather ottoman in the center of the room. The custom sofa in gray continues the modern lines with its track arm profile and low loose back pillows. We are swooning over all of the custom pillows we added to this space, adding a lot of warmth and texture to this monochromatic space. Brass and black accessories throughout the room tie into the light fixtures in the kitchen and dining room. Spot the gorgeous black agate wallpaper in the bookcase? It’s one of our favorite ways to add personality and re-purpose leftover wallpaper that you will see again soon in another room.
Since everyone loves a good before and after, check out the living room:
POWDER BATHROOM
Powder bathrooms are powerful opportunities for great design, and this tiny treasure is no different. Starting with the subtly-stunning wallpaper that makes the room appear so much larger than it is. It adds a soft touch while packing a punch for beautiful design. A lovely and masculine navy vanity replaced a stand alone pedestal sink, which provides so much more storage and functionality for this family and their guests. Gray tile set in a herringbone pattern ground this space, adding a ton of personality to this room as well as the mudroom. Brass finishes throughout the room add a modern elegance.
MASTER BEDROOM
And now for one of our favorite master bedroom reveals ever! This bedroom went from an uninspired after-thought to a fully customized beauty packed with personality and striking selections. Let’s start with the show-stopping black agate wallpaper feature wall. We were thrilled when the clients selected this wallpaper during their design presentation because it served as inspiration for the rest of the home. Even though a gorgeous tall custom headboard stands against one-third of the wall, the wallpaper manages to stand out. We added a lot of custom touches in this room with pillows, window bench seat and window valance in soft, textured fabrics that send sweet dream vibes to these homeowners. In line with one of our favorite bedroom design tips, we added wall sconces above both nightstands to save surface space. These brass wall sconces add a lot of warmth and contrast to the space, allowing it to stand out against the wallpaper, whereas a polished nickel would have gotten lost. Finally, accessories topped off the room mixing a variety of soft, textured and sleek movement throughout the space. We are envious of the homeowners who get to enjoy this cozy cove on a daily basis!
We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with these wonderful clients, who allowed us to be really creative and produce a style we don’t often have the pleasure of designing. Can you tell we had a lot of fun here? We respect their courage to make the home theirs, by creating a style and space they love and reflects who they are as a family. If you’re feeling stuck in your current space, we would be thrilled to help you design a space that screams YOU and your new favorite place to be.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Interior Impressions Team
