The turkey leftovers have come and gone, temperatures are declining and it’s dark before the 5 o’clock news. That’s right, it’s hybernation season. In a season when it is difficult to convince yourself it’s worth braving the elements to drive to the grocery store, it is important that you enjoy the place you call home. We’ve put together a guide for all of your homebody, hybernating, hygge essentials to create inspiration in your home to cook, entertain, snuggle up and read a good book, play with your children, and accomplish your most important goals.
WARMTH
It’s cold outside, the opposite should be said for your home. Create an environment that exudes warmth, both on your thermostat and in your space. Mixing textiles will lend hand to create a cozy room. Incorporate wood elements in decor and furniture, textured throw blankets and pillows, soft area rugs to welcome your family and guests. Pro tip: warm hearts and hands by having fresh coffee readily available. Also, our title was inspired by Joanna Gaines’ newly released book, Homebody, which would make a great addition to your coffee table.
LIGHTING
Hours of sunlight are sacred in winter. Allow natural light to flood through the windows, elevating the energy of your home and giving you an energy boost. As the sun sets (way too early), draw beautiful draperies to add character, texture and dimension to your space. Use soft lighting by way of table lamps and candles to create an intimate environment. Below, we are showcasing a porch that we love and want to emulate indoors this winter by keeping things light and bright!
GOOD EATS
Pull out your favorite cookbook or find that recipe you’ve had Pinned for years but have never made. Reap the rewards of accomplishing a meal that’s been simmering for hours, filling your home with delicious aromas and for all to enjoy over good conversation around the table. Keep your kitchen fresh and inspiring through the year by interchanging tea towels, plants and flowers, and coffee mugs influenced by the seasons.
P.S. We found a delicious slow cooker pot roast recipe that you can check out here.
COMFORT
Whether you have a sofa that fits the whole family or a favorite accent chair, comfort is king. Keep a basket of warm throw blankets nearby for easy accessibility for watching a movie or reading. Take pleasure in comfort foods, displayed on wood serving boards with a side of no judgement or guilt.
We hope these tips help you embrace homebody season and your home through the long winter months. How can Interior Impressions help create a space you love all year round? Head over here to tell us about your upcoming project!
