The Prairie Outlook accomplishes both, blending timeless architecture with warm organic finishes and thoughtful details that make every space feel inviting. Set against sweeping prairie views, this custom home embraces its surroundings through expansive windows, natural materials, and spaces designed to bring the outdoors in.

Working alongside Divine Custom Homes from the earliest stages of this new build allowed every decision to build upon the next, creating a home that feels cohesive from the inside out. One of our favorite parts of new construction is seeing the entire vision come to life. After months of planning, selecting finishes, collaborating with the builder, and watching each detail take shape, there’s nothing better than walking through the completed home and seeing how beautifully everything comes together.

There’s something especially rewarding about working with clients and builders on multiple projects. We were so fortunate to partner with these clients and Divine Custom Homes for a second time. We had worked together years ago on their previous custom-designed home. We loved our collaboration just as much the second time around! As this family evolved, they were ready for a different kind of living environment, and we are so honored to help them design for their current stage of life.

Watching a vision evolve from drawings and material selections into beautifully finished spaces is one of our favorite parts of the design process, and this home is a perfect reflection of that journey. Natural wood, soft neutral palettes, handcrafted textures, and intentional design choices come together to create a home that’s equally suited for quiet mornings, busy family life, and effortless entertaining.

A Welcoming Exterior & Design Vision

From the moment you arrive, this home makes a statement.

The combination of rich black siding, natural stone, warm cedar accents, and expansive windows creates a bold yet welcoming exterior that feels perfectly at home on the prairie. The contrast between the dark palette and natural wood details adds warmth while highlighting the clean architectural lines.

Around back, an expansive covered porch extends the home’s living space outdoors with a beautiful stone fireplace and uninterrupted prairie views. Whether it’s enjoying your morning coffee as the sun rises or gathering around the fire in the evening, every detail was designed to celebrate the landscape that surrounds the home.

Living Room & Sunroom

At the heart of the home is a living space designed to feel both grand and comfortable.

Soaring ceilings, exposed white oak beams from Manomin Resawn Timbers, and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace establish a warm focal point while oversized windows flood the room with natural light and frame the beautiful prairie views beyond.

A double-sided fireplace connects the living room and sunroom, allowing both spaces to share the same inviting atmosphere. The adjoining sunroom offers a quieter place to unwind, surrounded by natural light and peaceful scenery, creating a seamless connection between indoor comfort and the outdoors.

Kitchen, Dining Room & Pantry

Designed for gathering, this kitchen balances beauty with everyday functionality.

A warm white oak island anchors the space while painted perimeter cabinetry keeps the palette bright and timeless. Favorite features of this kitchen are the custom plaster range hood, gorgeous natural stone backsplash, and the mixture of wood and painted finishes. The quartz countertops introduce texture without overwhelming the room.

Overhead, white oak ceiling planks add warmth while thoughtfully selected lighting defines each area of the open floor plan. The dining space feels welcoming and intimate despite its generous scale, making it just as perfect for weeknight dinners as it is for holiday celebrations.

Just beyond the kitchen, the walk-in pantry provides abundant storage, additional workspace, and dedicated prep space. Beautiful cabinetry and durable finishes ensure this hardworking room feels every bit as polished as the kitchen itself.

Mudroom & Laundry Room

These hardworking spaces prove that functionality and beautiful design can go hand in hand.

The mudroom combines custom storage with durable finishes, creating designated spaces for coats, shoes, backpacks, and everything else that comes through the door. Rich painted cabinetry paired with warm white oak accents adds character while keeping daily life organized.

Just around the corner, the laundry room transforms an everyday chore into a more enjoyable experience with custom cabinetry, open shelving, quartz countertops, and thoughtfully selected finishes. To add a little personality, we chose a playful patterned backsplash tile behind the sink—a small detail that brings visual interest and makes the space feel anything but ordinary. After all, if you’re spending time doing laundry, why not make the room just as beautiful and inviting as the rest of the home? Every element was selected to maintain the cohesive aesthetic while adding a touch of fun to one of the home’s hardest-working spaces.

Primary Suite

Every home deserves a space where you can truly unwind, and the primary suite was designed to do exactly that. Tucked away from the rest of the home, it’s a peaceful retreat that offers a quiet escape from the pace of everyday life..

In the bedroom, we created a custom millwork feature wall behind the bed to add depth and visual interest without overwhelming the space. Painted in a lavender-gray, it brings warmth, texture, and a sense of calm, proving that neutral doesn’t have to mean boring. It’s a subtle design detail that elevates the room while maintaining the restful atmosphere every primary suite should have.

The primary bathroom is where this retreat really shines. Positioned to take advantage of the incredible prairie views, the freestanding soaking tub creates the perfect spot to slow down on a Saturday afternoon while taking in the scenery. Privacy was just as important as the view, so custom Hunter Douglas window treatments provide the best of both worlds—letting you enjoy the landscape while offering the flexibility of top-down or bottom-up shades whenever you want a little more seclusion.

A spacious walk-in shower, warm natural wood vanity, and layered textures continue the calming atmosphere, while the thoughtfully designed walk-in closet—built for two—is conveniently connected directly through the bathroom. Every detail was carefully planned to create a primary suite that doesn’t just look beautiful, but supports the way the homeowners live every day.

Lower Level Bar, Rec Room, Theater & Exercise Room

Designed for entertaining, relaxing, and staying active, the lower level offers something for every occasion.

A custom bar combines rich navy cabinetry, warm white oak accents, quartz countertops, and a striking tile backsplash to create a sophisticated gathering space. Whether hosting friends for the big game or enjoying a quiet evening with family, it’s the perfect place to bring everyone together.

Adjacent recreation spaces provide flexibility for games, conversation, and everyday lounging while maintaining the same elevated design language found throughout the home.

The dedicated theater creates an immersive movie-night experience with deep, moody finishes that make every film feel like a trip to the cinema.

Just beyond, a bright and functional exercise room provides a dedicated space to prioritize wellness without leaving home. Designed to feel open, energizing, and connected to the rest of the lower level, it supports everyday routines while reinforcing the home’s thoughtful balance of relaxation, recreation, and practical living.

Main Level & Lower Level Bathrooms

No matter where you are in the home, every bathroom was designed to feel intentional—not like an afterthought.

The main level guest bathroom welcomes friends and family with timeless finishes, warm details, and just the right amount of personality. Whether guests are staying for the weekend or simply stopping by to enjoy the incredible prairie views, we wanted the space to feel comfortable, inviting, and reflective of the rest of the home’s design.

Downstairs, the lower-level bathroom is perfectly positioned to serve the family’s older children and all the activity that comes with the home’s entertainment spaces. Durable materials, warm white oak cabinetry, bold tile selections, and clean black fixtures create a space that’s ready for everyday use while still feeling elevated. Because let’s be honest—between movie nights, workouts, sleepovers, and hanging out with friends, this bathroom is bound to see plenty of traffic.

Together, both bathrooms prove that thoughtful design doesn’t stop with the main living spaces. Every room, no matter its purpose, was carefully considered to create a home that feels cohesive from top to bottom.

By combining natural materials, timeless finishes, and personalized design solutions, the result is a home that feels connected to its surroundings while supporting the rhythms of everyday life.

From the earliest planning stages alongside Divine Custom Homes to the final styling touches, it has been incredibly rewarding to watch this vision come to life. There’s something special about seeing months of planning, collaboration, and countless design decisions transform into a home that feels exactly as it was imagined.

What makes The Prairie Outlook even more meaningful is the relationship behind it. Nearly a decade ago, we had the pleasure of helping these homeowners design a different home. When they came back to us to create this new build, we were truly honored. Being trusted a second time is one of the greatest compliments we can receive, and seeing them settle into a home that’s been thoughtfully designed around the way they live—and the incredible prairie views they’ll enjoy for years to come—is exactly why we love what we do.
