Exploring the Latest Trends at High Point Market:
As interior designers, we are always on the lookout for the latest trends and innovations that can transform spaces and elevate the aesthetics of our client’s homes. This is where the mecca of the interior design world’s furnishings market happens twice a year. We try to make it once a year to stay on top of the latest trends and to meet with our vendors to learn about the new product introductions, and to discover new products and companies as well. Being knowledgeable about the pieces we sell to our clients is very important, and we love being able to bring our customers the best values. We are excited to share our viewpoint on the trends and new innovations we discovered!
COLORS
One of the most noticeable “Color of the Moment” is green! It was a welcome change from the past several years where blue has dominated the design scene for quite some time. While blues continue to be popular, we loved seeing the prevalence of some warmer tones. Beautiful earthy colors of terra cotta and cocoa browns bring a rich, cozy feel and tie in so nicely with the organic, textural vibe we are seeing everywhere. We also noticed more reds, but rather than fire engine red tones, we saw softer, sophisticated hues, like pinky-reds or deep burgundy tones. The deeper colors lend well to the current trend of dark and moody rooms, and color-drenched spaces.

Textures and Neutral, Organic pallettes
Texture played a significant role in the designs showcased at the market. Rattan, rope, woven natural materials, velvets, mohair, super soft leather, linen, French oaks, and burlwood were all featured prominently. We observed a decrease in natural rift sawn oaks or French oak (which completely dominated past markets), and we noticed darker wood tones and medium warm brown wood tones taking center stage. A lot of the looks were all about layering neutrals and adding interest with different textures, instead of adding color. We didn’t see sofas layered with colorful accent pillows very often. It seemed like the styles, shapes and small details were the parts that were meant to be noticed, so adding too much color or bold patterns would take away from the appreciation of those details. There was a focus on comfort and cozy fabrics on furniture. Soft velvets and cotton-velvet blends, and washed linens were favorite materials on several pieces. Faux fur and fluffy sheep wool were also popular choices for chairs and ottomans, adding a cozy and luxurious touch.

Furniture
Furniture designs at High Point 2025 were a blend of modern and traditional styles. Modern/contemporary furniture was sculptural and all about curves, while traditional pieces were vintage-inspired with a lot of skirted & slipcovered styles, box pleats, scalloped details, ruffles, tufting, and vintage prints. We noticed a lot of contrast-welting, micro flanged edging, Casegoods wrapped in fabrics, linens, or grasscloth were prevalent. Mixtures of materials on furniture pieces is common, and various combinations of leather, wood, fabrics, metals, raffia or rattan were also seen everywhere. Two of our favorite upholstery companies introduced new “down feather-free” ultra plush cushions that don’t crush down and bounce back quickly. We are also excited about introducing several new recliners, including versions that swivel, glide, and recline! I mean – you get the best of all three in one chair! The bonus is that most of them don’t look like typical recliners (No more bulky, poofy, “Dad” recliners of the 80’s)

Rattan and Woven Materials
Rattan and woven natural materials were literally everywhere, particularly in dining chairs and light fixtures. This texture is no longer limited to coastal looks; it is being used across all styles of furniture and decor. There’s something about the warmth and natural feel that naturally puts people at ease and makes you feel more relaxed. Dining chairs with rattan backs or accents and several versions of chairs with casters for easy movement were also a common sight.

Reeded Wood
Reeded wood was a standout trend, appearing on various pieces of furniture and accessories. Its unique texture and visual appeal make it a versatile choice for several different design styles.

Lighting
Gold remains a dominant metal in lighting and furniture, with black also being prominent. Mixed materials in light fixtures, such as gold with rattan-wrapped accents, black with leather accenting, and polished nickel with rattan, added a sophisticated and contemporary touch. Modern fixtures featured bold designs with rounded details, such as large orb bulbs, while traditional fixtures had a lot of rattan or woven elements, or replicated candelabra styles and many had vintage details such as pleated shades and polished brass finishes. On another note…patio tables will be beautifully illuminated this summer – we saw LED cordless lamps everywhere!

Patterns
Vintage look patterns were very popular, ranging from small block print designs, florals, stripes, checks and plaids. More contemporary designs tended toward geometric patterns. Pillows on sofas were more about textural layers and subtle accents rather than making bold statements.

Wallpaper
Wallpaper continues to be a significant trend, adding character and depth to rooms. Subtle textural wallpapers, such as grasscloth, are still a fan-favorite with their timeless appeal and subtlety. For those a little bolder in their design choices, large-scale patterns, including florals, are very much on trend and can instantly elevate the look of any space. We’ve also seen a lot of wall murals coming into popularity! Wallpaper styles are so diverse, and there is a huge range of different styles that are all well-accepted. Anything from soft abstracts, to landscapes, to vintage block print designs, and revived historic patterns (such as Morris & Co) – the choices are endless!
Overall Vibes
The overall vibes at High Point seemed to be either light and bright, with relaxed, vacation feels, or they captured the current dark and moody trend. Color-washed spaces (where the walls, trim, tile, and several features are all the same color) are definitely having a moment. As always, High Point showcases a plethora of styles, offering something for literally everybody.
