Our team recently took a much-needed retreat up north, and it was nothing short of magical! From dive bars and craft cocktails to scenic views and vintage shopping, we packed our trip with fun, relaxation, and plenty of laughter.
Vikings Victory at Players Sports Bar
We kicked off our adventure at Players Sports Bar, a local dive where we gathered to cheer on the Vikings. With a win on the screen and good vibes all around, it was the perfect way to start our getaway. The atmosphere was electric, and we had an absolute blast!
Canal Park Craft Cocktails at Vikre Distillery
Next, we ventured down to Canal Park for some expertly crafted cocktails at Vikre Distillery. The drinks were as unique as the setting, and we couldn’t help but savor every sip. Vikre’s creative cocktails never disappoint, making it a staple for our North Shore outings.
Sweet Treats at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory
What’s a retreat without a little indulgence? We stopped by The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for their famous chocolate-covered potato chips, and wow—snacks will never be the same again! The perfect balance of sweet and salty was exactly what we needed before heading further up the coast.
Dinner at New Scenic Café
Dinner at New Scenic Café was an absolute treat. We shared a variety of dishes, including seared sea scallops, deviled eggs, escargot, and North Shore lobster rolls. Each dish was more delicious than the last, but the highlight of the meal was the brioche French toast for dessert.
After dinner, we enjoyed their outdoor firepit overlooking the stunning Lake Superior—the perfect end to an incredible meal.
Sunrise and Scenic Adventures
We stayed in Beaver Bay, waking up to a breathtaking sunrise over Lake Superior. There’s something truly magical about watching the sun rise over the water—it was one of those quiet moments that made us feel refreshed and ready for the day.
Special Visit to Breezy Lane Getaway
One of the highlights of our trip was a stop at the Breezy Lane Getaway, the stunning vacation home that Kierstyn and Amy worked on. Though the clients weren’t there, they graciously allowed us inside to see the beautiful work up close. Experiencing the space in person was truly special. It also gave us a chance to reflect on how every project is a team effort. While not all of us had a hand in the design, we all contributed to its completion—whether through client intake, managing the ordering and shipping details, or setting up the photoshoots to showcase the finished work. Seeing it all come together was a proud moment for the entire team! Check out the full project reveal, here.
We made our way to Black Beach, a first-time visit for some of us, but definitely not the last! The views were stunning, and it’s safe to say we’re hooked. Afterward, we explored local vintage shops, hunting for hidden treasures to incorporate into our upcoming projects. Finding those one-of-a-kind pieces is always a thrill!
Lunch and Relaxation at Castle Danger Brewery
Lunch took us to Blackwoods in Two Harbors, followed by a relaxing afternoon at Castle Danger Brewery. We played cornhole, lounged in hammocks, and even enjoyed the brewery’s butterfly garden. It was the perfect blend of play and relaxation.
Gooseberry Falls Stone Stepping
No trip to the North Shore is complete without a visit to Gooseberry Falls! With the water levels low, we took advantage of the opportunity to do some stone-stepping. Visiting on a Monday meant we had the place mostly to ourselves, giving us a peaceful break from the usual crowds.
Pie from Rustic Inn Café
After Gooseberry Falls, we made a quick stop at the Rustic Inn Café to pick up some takeout pie. The North Shore Berry Crumb Pie was a unanimous winner—apples, blueberries, rhubarb, and strawberries combined into one delicious dessert. We’ll definitely be making this a must-have for future trips.
Agate Hunting and Sunset Views
Our day ended with some agate hunting at a secret beach in Beaver Bay. Though we didn’t find any, watching the sunset paint the sky over the lake was more than enough to make the evening special. There’s something about the North Shore sunsets that just hits different.
Cozy Nights at Cove Point Lodge
We wrapped up our trip with dinner from Cove Point Lodge and cozied up by their beautiful fireplace, enjoying the nostalgia and charm of the space. With board games galore and a homey feel, we all agreed we’d bring our families here for future visits—it’s the perfect place to relax and reconnect.
Wrapping Up with Games and Cozy Vibes
Back at our condo, we spent the night playing games, wrapped in blankets, and savoring the coziness of the moment. We also spent some time gazing at the stars through a giant telescope, some even think we may have seen the rings of Jupiter! It was the perfect ending to a retreat that gave us just the right mix of adventure, relaxation, and quality time together.
This retreat was more than just a getaway—it was a chance for us to bond, recharge, and enjoy the beauty of the North Shore. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
