Every year, I go to High Point market in North Carolina to visit our current vendors to check out the new items and to discover new vendors and broaden our client offerings. It is always an inspiring and educational trip, and although it is exhausting walking 10+ miles on an average day, it is invaluable and worth every blister! I am excited to share some of the trends I noticed from my trip to High Point a few weeks ago.

WARMER COLORS
Warm colors in spice-inspired hues, such as caramel, warm sage greens, camel browns, deep rusty reds and burnt oranges are dominating the color scene. Even though these are perfect fall colors, they are clearly going to be prominent choices throughout this coming year. These colors can easily be infused with a neutral palette to create a warm and inviting aesthetic. Greens are emerging as the “IT” color this season, pushing over the blues that have been so prominent over the past few years.

NEUTRALS AND TEXTURES
Warm whites and neutrals are still a hot trend! Neutrals can be used to create a timeless and elegant space, and layering of textures helps a monochromatic room feel interesting and inviting. Boucles and velvety textures are still all the rage. Everyone is craving comfort and soft textiles, and they are quite prominent in the upholstery scene.

CURVES
Besides textures, another trend that is adding interest to furniture pieces is curves and interesting details. Mixing materials to add layers of interest was seen frequently. The nightstand pictured below has a beautiful combination of wood, rattan, and burnished gold metal. Curved sofas, chairs and benches bring back a slight retro vibe but also add softness. Arched mirrors, cabinets, doorways, and windows have made a huge comeback as well.

MOTION FURNITURE
I saw several furniture companies add motion sofas and chair options to their portfolio. They don’t look like the 1990’s puffy oversized recliner though – thank goodness! The furniture industry knows how much we love being comfortable and having the ability to recline while watching a movie or football game. Thankfully, they have figured out how to disguise the features so you don’t even know they are there. This sectional from Universal Furniture was so comfortable, I could have fallen asleep while testing it out!

Statement lighting:
Lighting has long been the “jewelry” of the home. There is nothing that can change the look of a space as quickly and easily as light fixtures, and the options are literally endless. I am seeing a lot of modern style lighting being used, even in traditional homes. Mixing modern and traditional is a fun way to add interest to a space and give it a versatile look.
VINTAGE LOOKS
Traditional styles will always be in, and classic, historic designs will never go out of style. We love mixing modern elements with vintage art and furnishings, and I saw this trend in almost every showroom at market. Many of the artwork companies have gorgeous selections of vintage reproduction art, and I was loving it all!

In a nutshell, High Point Market never fails to fill me with inspiration and sparks so many ideas for our client projects! Whether you’re into cozy vibes, sleek designs, or a mix of old and new, there’s truly something for everyone. Do you have any favorite trends you are seeing? We would love to hear from you and help you add more style and comfort to your home.
