Blessed is an understatement. When American Farmhouse Style initially showed interest in our Modern Mountain Hangout project, we were over the moon – and still are! To have a 10-page spread in their Fall 2022 issue is a dream. Come along as we read through the article and walk you through our design decisions for this Woodbury home’s lower level makeover!
The Main Hangout Area
Our clients love to entertain and host guests, so it’s no surprise that the main goal was to create a functional and cozy place where friends and family could easily spend a lazy afternoon. From an unfinished basement, to the space it is now, we packed this lower level with all the stops. Our favorite feature? The focal point of the room: the custom metal-wrapped fireplace. It is unique from what most Minnesota homes have and it brings a modern vibe to the living room.
The bar + kitchenette area
If you love to entertain, is having an in-home bar even a question? This modern bar holds its own sink, microwave, beverage fridge and dishwasher – making clean-up after guests leave a breeze. Again, functionality is always at the core of our designs so instead of a traditional bar-height countertop, we chose a counter-height island to keep the space feeling open and connected the whole way through.
the SECLUDED OFFICE
After the past few years, we think we all can agree that having a designated office is ideal. This office is tucked away in the back of the main room, but is cohesive with the rest of the lower level design-wise. We opted for barn doors to conserve as much space inside the office as possible, vs traditional swinging doors. They also add a touch of character which we love! The room also holds a closet space and could easily be converted to an additional smaller-sized guest room if needed.
Made complete with a guest room & 3/4 bathroom
This modern mountain vibe lower level wouldn’t be complete without a full-sized guest room and a three-quarter bathroom. The staple of the guest room is the gorgeous wood headboard, adding the perfect touch of warmth to greet guests to their stay. The bathroom vanity and sink brings a minimal farmhouse vibe, while the walk-in shower gives the space a modern feel with the frameless glass shower door and black hardware. Whether guests are staying over or not, if you’re entertaining, having a bathroom on each level of your home is ideal for not only functionality but also resale value!
We want to take a moment to thank American Farmhouse Style for the opportunity and the feature of our Modern Mountain Hangout project! It’s truly a blessing anytime our work is noticed and appreciated. Of course, we’re biased, but this project goes down as one of our favorites yet. We hope you all loved it as well!
