Summertime is sacred to us Minnesotans. We soak up every ounce of sunshine, and spend most of our days enjoying the outdoors. With the summer season upon us, we decided to curate a list of places to visit and things to do to put on your bucket list!
Wineries

Is it really summertime if you don’t spend at least a day at a winery? A few of our favorites are: Rustic Roots Winery in Scandia, 7 Vines Winery in Dellwood, and Carlos Creek Winery in Alexandria (definitely a day trip from the cities but has a brewery and pizza kitchen!). If you happen to be up on the North Shore near Lutsen, North Shore Winery is a fun stop to taste test and pair with locally made chocolates!
breweries

For overall vibe, great beer selection and location BlackStack Brewing in Saint Paul is our top choice in the cities. For Minneapolis, Bauhaus Brewing is always a good time, too! If you want lakeside spot, head to Back Channel Brewing on Lake Minnetonka. Want to visit multiple breweries in one day and have a designated driver? Book a bus or limo tour with your best people through MN Beer Bus.
on the water

Take a morning with your best pals and book a paddle board yoga class (yes, it’s yoga on a paddleboard in the water!). If you want an all-day experience, reserve some kayaks or canoes on the St. Croix River or Cannon River. Wish you had a boat? Look no further than Your Boat Club. They have many dock locations all over the Twin Cities for you to rent one of their boats for the day, hassle free.
staycations

If you’re looking a place for a quick getaway from the Twin Cities, stay at our Minnesota Coastal Retreat project at Grand View Lodge & Spa! Of course, we’re biased, but it’s a gorgeous stay in an area with so many fun things to do – rain or shine. Check out this blog for other fun staycation ideas.
fESTIVALS + happenings
If you’re a foodie (who isn’t?), pick one of three different dates and locations to visit a food truck festival! If concerts are more your thing, head to an outdoor concert like Summer Jam at Canterbury Park. This year’s lineup of artists includes: Blake Shelton, Kane Brown, Nelly, Trace Adkins and 38 Special!
There’s no doubt that summertime is truly the best season, in our opinion. 🙂 Head outside, soak up the sunshine and enjoy your summer, friends!
