Even though the X-Golf Mequon location isn’t brand new, we just recently got around to having it professionally photographed. We absolutely love the hip vibe that it has and we just had to share! The Mequon, Wisconsin X-Golf was the 2nd facility that we designed for owners Shawn DeMain and Luke Larson. We loved working with them on their first X-Golf in Brookfield, WI, so when they called to say they were opening another one and wanted us to design that one too, we were thrilled! Here’s a peek at one of our favorite commercial projects. Mequon, WI is right outside of Milwaukee, so if you are ever in the area, be sure to check it out! https://playxgolf.com/locations/mequon/
THE LOUNGE AREA
The lounge space offers a cool and cozy space to hang out while you are waiting for your group’s turn to play golf, or just to meet up with a few friends for a fun night out. We brought in a moody vibe with deep green paint, our signature plaid wallpaper on the tv wall, and a vintage-modern mix with the furnishings and decor. The distressed leather sofas and wood + leather chairs provide ample seating. We added a high top table and stools for even more space in the event you have a party or larger group of people. The credenza and cocktail tables bring an interesting mix of metals, and the vintage hand-knotted rug is the icing on the cake! We also love the modern lighting with brushed brass finishes to add the warm, ambient lighting that makes the room feel so special.
THE BAR AREA + GOLF SIMULATORS
The bar has a parquet patterned tile that looks like inlaid wood. We highlighted it with undercounter LED lighting that can easily change color with the touch of a remote control. The pendant lights imitate golf balls and the bar stools are a classy mix of leather and wooden backs. The simulator banquettes were custom designed by us! We dreamed up this design as a way to allow up to 6 people to sit in each simulator bay, where space is limited. We found a local company, Urban Evolutions http://www.urbanevolutions.com, that was able to make exactly what we wanted. The banquettes have a counter on the backside, with space for 3 stools, and the front is a bench with a faux leather seat and a plaid backrest with leather straps. We originally designed these and installed them in the Brookfield, WI location. They worked so well that we used them in the next 2 X-Golf locations that we worked on, and other X-Golf locations around the country have ordered them as well. The other signature item that we had designed by a local company is the engraved walnut wood sign that hangs above the bar area. We worked with Woodchuck in Minneapolis http://www.woodchuckusa.com and designed the lazer-cut wood signs and have also used them in multiple X-Golf locations. We LOVE working with local makers to create extra special, one-of-a-kind designs!
THE BATHROOMS
As is our custom, we make sure that the bathrooms in our projects are just as interesting as the main areas. Bathroom 1 has black & white golf bags wallpaper, paired with lovely deep green porcelain tile. The flooring was done in white penny round tile with black grout. Bathroom 2 showcases a bold black and white buffalo plaid wallpaper and white “crayon” tile with gold grout.
the private simulator room
Most of the X-Golf locations have a more private simulator that is used for private instruction with their pro. We want the golfers to feel comfortable and at ease while they are learning their best chipping moves, so we brought in a comfy leather sofa, vintage hand-knotted rug, and brushed brass light fixtures.
the accent walls + golf store area
Lastly, we created a space to display the golf clubs and clothing that is sold at the Mequon location. One of our favorites is their Bad Birdie https://badbirdiegolf.com/ line of clothing. It is really fun and will have you golfing in the freshest trends on the course!
We hope you enjoyed seeing X-Golf Mequon! We can’t wait to dish about the upcoming venture we have coming up with Shawn and Luke. It’s going to be our biggest and most exciting commercial project yet!!
