The official “day of love” is just a couple days away. If you’re anything like us, you may have forgotten to set some plans – Hey, no shame! We can hardly believe it’s the middle of February. We’ve rounded up five fun and romantic ways for you and your significant other to enjoy Valentine’s Day!
1. go Axe Throwing
If you and your person love being active and have competitive spirits, going Axe Throwing is a great idea! There are a few different companies around the Twin Cities, but our favorite is The Lumberjack in Stillwater. Complete with its own full bar, snacks and shuffle board, you won’t even need to leave if you don’t want to! If you can, try to make reservations online here to secure your time slot. Tip: this could be a fun idea for a group date, too!
2. Order a Charcuterie Board
Homebodies at heart? Pre-order a charcuterie board from a local company that will be sure to delight. Pair it with a bottle of wine, or your favorite cocktail, a romantic movie and enjoy a cozy Valentine’s night in. Bonus points for purchasing some cute pajamas, too! Our favorite companies to order from: The Board Loon (East Metro), From the Diner (West Metro), or Say Cheese MN (West Metro).
3. WALK THROUGH THE STILLWATER ICE PALACE

It’s no secret that Stillwater is a romantic spot to be. Add in an ice palace with a maze, a bar, (and an ice slide!) and you have a fun, winter activity for the two of you. Be sure to bundle up! We recommend purchasing your tickets in-advance here.
4. Enjoy a round of golf (and drinks) at X-Golf
Although we wish sunshine and warm temps could happen all year round, X-Golf is a great idea for couples who love to have tee times. It’s indoor golf simulator with a full bar and some food options, with multiple locations around the Twin Cities making it an easy and convenient option for most of the surrounding metro suburbs (and you don’t have to worry about weather as you might at Top Golf). Fun fact, we actually designed all of the X-Golf locations in MN – so you get to see our work live and in action! Check out the locations here.
5. visit a speakeasy

Head back in time to the roaring 1920’s and visit one of the many “secret” bars around the Twin Cities. The vibe is romantic, nostalgic and will be a memorable experience for the two of you. We highly recommend trying to get a reservation if you’re able to! Here are a few of our favorites to visit: The Velveteen (Stillwater – perfect for pairing with axe throwing or the ice palace!), The Hardware Store (Anoka – look for the red light above a door off of 2nd Ave, between the parking ramp and Jackson Street), Volstead’s Emporium (Minneapolis – hidden on the southside of Lake Street, just west of Lyndale Ave).
Whatever, and whenever, you two decide to do for celebrating we wish you and yours the best time. Spending quality time together is always a good thing. XO!
