The beginning of a new year marks a turn of a page for many. It allows us to reflect on the year prior, and what we hope for in the year to come. It’s no secret that many of us fall off the path on the way to reaching our sought after goals. We rounded up five of our favorite tips and tricks to sticking to (and hitting!) those goals of yours!
1. Create a vision board
Grab your scissors, some magazines, print-outs and push pins and curate real life Pinterest board of what you’d like your life to look like in the process of and actually attaining your goals. Everything from inspirational quotes or mantras, to outfits, to places you’ll travel, to the type of home you’d like to live in. Nothing is off limits. Think, “If I could choose my perfect life, what would it look like?” and roll with it.
2. Read motivational books
It’s no secret that a majority of successful people take time to read and learn. Set aside 10-15 minutes a day to read a book that will motivate you and/or teach you the necessary tips for reaching your goals. Here are a few on our list to read:
She Minds Her Own Business by Krystel Stacey
The Pumpkin Plan by Mike Michalowicz
Half Baked Harvest Cookbook by Tieghan Gerard
Amy has read The Pumpkin Plan and Atomic Habits and highly recommends them for any business owner or soon-to-be business owner. Karah, our marketing director, has read The Body Book and recommends it for anyone who is looking to truly care for their mind, body and soul this year and beyond.
3. Set mini-goal dates with rewards
The best advice we’ve ever heard is to simply focus on the next step. Sometimes the end goal can seem like too big of a feat to manage. When you set mini-goals or benchmarks on the way to reaching the main goal, it can seem more realistic to achieve. Add-on a reward for each mini-goal you crush. Buy those leggings you’ve been meaning to, buy yourself your favorite bouquet of flowers, treat yourself to an amazing dinner with a glass of wine or a day at the spa, anything that would help you to celebrate meeting your milestone.
4. Have a visual of your progress
Track your progress in real time in a place that is impossible for you to not see on a daily basis. Put a calendar up on your bathroom mirror, or use the post-it note method (our personal favorite), or make a checklist you can physically checkmark. Love the above examples from The Sunny Side Up!
5. Surround yourself with the best people
Accountability is powerful. Make sure to tell people about your goal. This will allow you to talk openly about your progress, and have someone who intuitively will check-in on you to see how you’re doing with reaching your goal. Another aspect is making sure you have people in your life who will be uplifting and have a positive impact on your life in some way. On the contrary, surrounding yourself with those who don’t have your best interest at heart, or won’t be necessarily helpful in any way, shape or form on your way to reaching your goals – those people should take a backseat in your life.
What tips do you have that didn’t make our list? Or what goals do you have for 2022 that you’d like to share with us? We’d love to hear them in the comments below!
Wishing you all the blessings over your year and goals!
