2022 is coming in hot with some gorgeous and timeless trends. We are excited to share our list of the top 10 interior design trends for this year! Let’s get to it.
1. Soft, muted earth tones

This trend rings true especially in the green and brown families. Kierstyn, one of our designers, personally loves that brown is back! It adds a hint of richness but is still neutral enough to go well in most home designs.
2. Tactile textures

Cozy boucles, crushed velvets, textural ceramics – they’re all in! We’ve seen these textures utilized throughout furniture, pillows, decor, you name it. We love the level of coziness these fabrics and textures bring to any home.
3. Vintage & second-hand objects
Driven both from a nostalgic and sustainability standpoint. Repurposing used finds, or keeping them as is, is becoming increasingly popular (especially with the current furniture lead times!). Our designer, Kierstyn, is the thrifting Q U E E N! If you’re in need of some thrifting ideas be sure to read her blog for tips and tricks.
4. Mixing materials and design styles

Not designing too much in one aesthetic (enough modern farmhouse already!) but creating balance in your home with different design styles to create your own unique aesthetic. Both of the above designs do an amazing job at mixing materials and implementing different styles.
5. Bringing color back!

We’re all growing a bit tired of the “ALL beige”, no color look. We are craving color but want to maintain a restful feel. Deeper and more muted hues will pair well with our neutral palettes. Shades of green seem to be the “IT” color this year. We also think moody blues, charcoals, and teal shades will be popular. In the warmer spectrum, browns, camel, terra cotta, caramel and persimmon will bring in cozy vibes that pair well with grays or beiges.
6. Multifunctional rooms

Even though kids are back in school and some people have returned to working in the office, at least part time, we will still be spending a lot more time in our homes than we did in the past. The need for multifunctional rooms is greater than ever before. Instead of moving into a bigger house, we are getting creative and finding ways to make our spaces more functional. A guest bedroom can also be an office and an exercise room. We are also seeing more requests for lower level kitchenettes instead of bars that can allow for multi-generational living in the same home.
7. Elevated outdoor spaces

On the same point that we are trying to stretch our homes as much as possible, creating outdoor spaces is a great way to expand our living spaces without having to create an addition. We are seeing more clients create two-season enclosed sunrooms under their decks by adding EZ Breeze or Sunscreen windows. Outdoor furniture has evolved so much that it’s hard to tell the difference from indoor sofas or chairs. Outdoor kitchens, living rooms with outdoor tvs, and al fresco dining spaces can give you a lot more functionality and also space to spread out when everyone is home.
8. Curves & ARches

Clean lines will always look lovely, but a beautiful arch connecting spaces or furniture with a curve adds a hint of feminism. Plan to see the arched doorways make a comeback. We’re swooning over this curved boucle chair – two trends in one!
9. Leather Furniture & Details

Leather, leather and more leather. The touch of western vibes is welcome here. We’ve seen this trend utilized in small to large furniture pieces, and even in the tiniest of details. Adding a dash of leather into your home will instantly add a bit of swankiness.
10. STATEMENT LIGHTING

Making a statement with your lighting selections is here to stay. A good light fixture instantly adds personality and character to a space. We love Amy’s dinette area’s chandelier (pictured on the right)!
These 10 trends are sure to be seen throughout homes in 2022 and for years to come. Which one is your favorite? Or were there any we didn’t list that you think should’ve made the cut? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
