We are always thrilled when clients become repeat clients. After all, we get to know them pretty well after working on big projects and oftentimes, they truly become people we would call friends. There’s a post-design sadness that we experience after our work together is done, so getting the opportunity to work together again is always such a blessing! In this case, we were asked to help Emily & Dominic with their primary bedroom after we finished their entire main floor project! You can see the rest of their home in the Family Heritage Refresh project on our portfolio.
The cozy bed
The single most important thing you need in your primary bedroom is a cozy, comfortable, inviting bed! As you can see, the bedroom started with bare bones. It had been stripped down, painted white, received new trim and new carpeting. A high-quality new mattress and boxspring was ordered, and so the adventure began to make this room feel beautiful and special! Emily wanted a very restful palette, with touches of things that were meaningful to them – memories of their wedding day, a little bit of a vintage vibe, mixed with modern elements, and something that reminded them of countryside or waterside escapes. We brought in a soft pop of colors with a beautiful persimmon, creams, browns, and blue-grays.

The backdrop of the bed wall has a very soft and subtle patterned wallpaper. It adds interest to the room without stealing all of the attention. The bedding is a mixture of curated pieces. We used a luxurious Belgian linen coverlet, duvet cover and pillow shams, which happen to be machine-washable, believe it or not! They are from a favorite bedding line of ours, Pom Pom at Home. We love using a layered effect to bring in texture, pattern and color with bedding. We layered with lovely floral pillows from Danielle Oakey, and then finished off with a custom-made velvet bolster pillow. The linen upholstered bed frame and sea salt nightstands keep things light and airy. We layered a gorgeous hand-knotted wool rug to add more interest over the carpeting and to bring in a little vintage flair. The roman shade and draperies were custom made as well and we selected a pattern that helped to balance out the features of the room by bringing color and pattern up to the windows.
the gallery wall
You know how most people’s wedding photos never make it out of a box, or just stay on the pages of the wedding album that you forget to look at? Well, Emily and Dominic had the right idea to make something special out of their photos and give them a place of honor that they will look at every day. They selected their favorites and had them professionally printed and framed. We created a gallery wall for them to celebrate their most special day – every day! The gallery wall is flanked by the 2 windows and softened by the pretty roman shade and draperies that add color and texture surrounding the black and white photos.

The console table & accessories
One of our favorite furniture pieces is the lovely inlayed wood console table we brought in, which allowed us to create a vignette of more special things. A beautiful arched brass mirror reflects light from the window and adds a feeling of height to the room. A framed wedding prayer, written by their good friend for their wedding is another meaningful memento that had to hold a special spot in this room. Palms from their wedding day sit in a pretty floral vase, and beautiful brass candlestick holders were mounted to the wall on the left side of their closet door also.

the sitting area
A comfortable chair is always a nice feature to add to your bedroom too. We added a super comfy custom-upholstered chair and ottoman in a soft herringbone fabric. It’s perfect for relaxing and reading a good book! A vintage feel floral print and artwork portraying a lovely countryside were selected to remind them of things they love.

That concludes the lovely Heritage Haven bedroom! We want to thank Emily & Pierre for giving us the honor of helping them make their home special and a beautiful reflection of who they are and what they hold dear. We also want to give a shout out and huge thank you to Mackenzie, our photographer, who you will see being her usual fun-loving self in the doorknob photo above! Mackenzie will be leaving us and heading off to a new adventure with her family on the East coast. We will miss her so much! Wishing her all the happiness and joy she deserves in her new home.
We wish all of you a very blessed and happy holiday season! In the meantime, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to have more project reveals and design tips sent to your inbox weekly!
