Welcome back to the third week of our Meet the Team Series! This week we’re hearing from our marketing + social media director, Karah Eisenschenk. From her love for design and well-crafted content, to her knack for fixing up a home, to her love of the simple things in life, we’re thankful to have Karah as a part of Interior Impressions!
1. WHAT IS YOUR ROLE IN THE COMPANY?
I’m the marketing and social media director for Interior Impressions.
2. WHAT ARE THREE WORDS THAT WOULD DESCRIBE YOU?
Loyal. Protective. Go-getter.
3. WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
After I get ready for the day, I start with making a to-do list for each category of my life – work, home, personal, and side business. Afterwards I I work our social media accounts, work on our weekly blog, attend any meetings, really wherever the day takes me. My days are always different, which I love! Once I’m off work, I help my husband renovate our home, workout, hang with our fur babies (Beverly & Bentley), and catch up on any shows we like to watch.
4. WHAT ARE THREE HABITS THAT YOU HAVE THAT YOU ATTRIBUTE TO YOUR SUCCESS?
1. Being consistent. In everything I’ve ever achieved, I look back and can thank consistency as being my best friend.
2. To-do lists, to-do lists, to-do lists! They are my bread and butter.
3. Remembering there’s a time for rest. Burnout is a real thing. Finding time to intentionally rest, whether that’s reading a book, taking a nap on the weekends, or turning off my phone for the day – rest is important!
4. what was your path to working at interior impressions?
Growing up I always found joy in watching remodeling/DIY shows with my parents, drawing out floor plans, and changing up my bedroom whenever I could. My parents built a home from the ground-up and being a part of that process at such a young age really influenced my interests today. Later on, I went to college and struggled to find my footing in what field met all of my passions. I finally landed on studying public relations & advertising. Design, marketing, social media, content creation, strategy and competition all mixed into one. It was perfect for me! I had a difficult time finding a position out of college and ended up continuing my steps in the insurance world – as I had been working for an agency throughout college to make ends meet.
In the meantime, my husband and I bought a fixer-upper and decided to remodel and design the home all by ourselves. Using my degree, I decided it would be fun to market and document the process by creating a base social media account to do so. It’s been a joy to show others the process and inspire them to do it as well! My husband actually found the job posting for this position on our Instagram account. I was on the search to get out of the insurance industry and just knew this position was right up my alley. I ended up contacting Amy, we chatted on the phone, met in-person, and here we are! It’s been the best change of pace in my life and the ladies have made the transition so wonderful.
6. WHAT’S A GOAL YOU HAVE FOR YOURSELF THAT YOU HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH IN THE NEXT YEAR?
Personal – to finish our fixer-upper home and get it on the market to sell. Easier said than done 😉
Work – to continue to grow in the craft of marketing. Social media is constantly evolving, so learning how to keep up with the changes and stay on top of the algorithms is key!
7. WHO IS SOMEONE YOU ADMIRE AND WHY?
I admire so many people for different reasons. When it comes to work life, I totally have a crush on Kate Becker. She’s a local MN entrepreneur with a few different small businesses that are impeccable! When it comes to my personal life, it has to be my mom. She has always taught me to keep going, to focus on what matters and to do things that are hard. She’s made it a point to exemplify how hard work gets you to where you want to be.
8. WHAT ARE YOU HAPPIEST DOING WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING?
I love spending time with my husband. He truly is my best friend. I also enjoy traveling, cooking new recipes, reading, working out, and trying out new local restaurants with good cocktails. 🙂 The simple things!
9. WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’D GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELf?
I’d tell myself to not care so much about other’s opinions. At the end of the day, this is your life and you get to choose how it shapes up. Keep working hard and making the decisions that you know are best for you – you’ll be on the right path.
10. HOW DO YOU WANT TO BE REMEMBERED?
I want to be remembered as someone who always gave it her all and made people feel special. Whether it was a conversation I had with someone, the work I do everyday, a party/shower I threw for a friend or family member, renovating our home, etc. – I want to make sure I left nothing on the table, and no corners were cut.
A big thank you to Karah for sharing a bit more about her life outside of work and her passions. We are looking forward to hearing from our intern, Haley, for next week’s Meet the Team Series!
