Fourth of July is easily one of our favorite holidays to celebrate. The festivities, days on the water, fun food and beverages, and time with loved ones are always a joy. We wanted to put together a blog full of festive inspiration and ideas for the long weekend. Following a year of social gatherings being on pause, we’re more excited than ever for this holiday season! Let’s get to it!
Food + Beverages
Of course anything red, white and blue will be the key to making a festive holiday dish or beverage!
We’re re-sharing our charcuterie boards that we made for Memorial Day. These are THE perfect charcuterie boards for the Fourth, and will surely be a holiday hit. For the festive “red, white and charcuter-brie” board, white or light colored cheeses will bring in the white, blueberries for the blue, and red fruit and salami for the red. You can find the ingredients list for both the red, white and charcuter-brie and the s’mores board on the Memorial Day blog linked above. We loved pairing these boards with Half-Baked Harvest’s Watermelon Rose Paloma and red wine for a perfect pop of festive color! We also love the 4th of July Wine Sparklers from The Kitchn (photographed below).
We also have a few other fun recipe ideas on this past Fourth of July blog we had put together a couple of years ago.
Another adorable idea – especially for the kids – is to to have a pie eating contest. How sweet and festive is this setup from Kara’s Party Ideas?!
ideas of things to do NEAR the twin cities
– Watch Fireworks at any of these top-rated locations. Our favorite? The fireworks over the water in Hudson, WI!
– Head to a Fourth of July parade or festival with the family. Here’s a list of parades, festivals and happenings!
– Decorate your boat and head to a local boat parade, – so fun! Here’s one on Forest Lake on the Fourth!
– Go grab some ice cream and malts for a fun date idea for the weekend. One of our local favorites, Leo’s Malt Shop in Stillwater!
– Enjoying the weekend at home or the cabin? Put together a Fourth of July Olympic Games for the family! Put together teams of two and have different games to play like bean bag toss, jenga, bocce ball, ladder golf and more.
As mentioned, we are just so excited to be able to safely gather this year and be with our loved ones – we hope you are, too! It was a joy to put together this blog that hopefully gave you some fun inspiration for the upcoming holiday weekend. Wishing you all have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July!
