It’s been a good month since the holidays ended and whether you are just now taking down your decorations (no judgement), or did the second the holidays were over, we’ve got some ideas for seasonal decor post-holidays. It’s an odd transition from greenery, stockings, little snowmen, nativity sets, etc. to barren spaces or just moving things back the way they were pre-holidays. We will show you how to spruce things up, and wintery greenery is one way to do so…no pun intended.
ADD COZY TEXTILES
Keep the cozy flowing. We are talking chunky knitted blankets, faux fur throw pillows, and some cozy, rich velvets whether in pillow or furniture form. Make your house remind you of your favorite sweater. Choose blankets and pillows in creams and whites to soften the room.
WINTERY SCENTS
One of the easiest accessories you can switch out seasonally is candles. If you are like us, chances are you have a pine tree smelling candle around that can be lit for ambiance and the resemblance of winter. In addition to making it smell like winter, lighting lots of candles embraces hygge which is super necessary for those living in Minnesota. We have to make the best of having to hunker down due to frigid weather.
GREENERY
Keep the fir and pine species in the running for indoor and outdoor greenery. If your garland or greenery is still in good shape, it doesn’t have to be stuck in the category of “holiday,” it can last through winter. Mix in some spruce tips with seasonal floral arrangements, and keep out the faux fir trees (the small ones, not a full-scale, faux Christmas tree) gracing your bookshelves. GET ORGANIZED
Although this is almost the antithesis of decorating, getting organized is top of the list once the holiday shenanigans are over with. Get rid of things that “no longer bring you joy,” as Marie Kondo would suggest. Go through your house, room by room, and find a home for everything you’d like to keep. You can decorate with some new shiny boxes, rattan bins, rope storage bins with leather accents, or whatever you please. Check out our recent blog post on simple storage ideas here.

Cheers to the weekend, and stay warm, everyone!
