Last call for holiday home refresh! We want you to be proud of your home this holiday season as you host family and friends to celebrate being together. If your home calls for a little boost with new furnishings, accessories, or small renovations, now is the time to take action! Before throwing “Hold up, Interior Impressions, it’s still technically summer” at us, let us explain. We have been in the interior design industry for nearly three decades. Each year, without fail, new clients come to us in mid to late Fall wanting to spruce up their homes before hosting holiday parties. The truth is: even small projects take time. It’s crushing to tell a client that their design goals and timeline are unrealistic. Luckily, there’s still a little time to get your house looking wonderful this year! Here’s what you can do:
KITCHEN
Gutting your current cabinets may be out of the realm of possibility yet this year, but we can completely transform your kitchen by working with what you have and updating along the way! Custom cabinetry takes months for design, specification, manufacturing and installation, but hiring a professional to paint your current cabinets can be accomplished within a few days work and will turn out beautiful. Compliment your freshly painted cabinets with the gorgeous tile backsplash you’ve always wanted. Update light fixtures from the dated “boob light” to modern semi-flush mount or pendant showstoppers. New hardware, a deceivingly small detail, can make a big impact in your kitchen to create a new feel.
BATHROOM
Overhauling your master bathroom is difficult task within itself, but it’s also a very long project. We don’t have time to rip everything out and rearrange plumbing, but there is time for cosmetic changes to be made. Make a statement by installing a beautiful wallpaper detail to add personality and charm. Update your vanity by installing a new one or paint your existing to give it new life. Replace the builder-grade laminate countertop with quartz or marble that can be found in standard sizing at home improvement stores or with slabs in stock at a stone yard. Similar to the kitchen, updating lighting and hardware can dramatically update a space to bring it into the 2020s.
LIVING ROOM
We love and are proud of our furniture vendors who create beautiful custom sofas, chairs, media cabinets, side tables, cocktail tables and consoles. For sofas and accent chairs we select upholstery that will fit your home and lifestyle to be made on durable, well made frames that are built to last. These custom pieces take time for design, manufacturing and shipment, so plan ahead three-four months to allow plenty of time for the process. Transform your living room within a weekend by introducing new decor, throws, plants, light fixtures, artwork, and rugs, adding color and texture to the space. Fill your beautiful built-ins by using our style your shelves formula. As always, we are thrilled to help decorate these spaces with a collection of beautiful pieces.
GUEST BEDROOM
For your out of town friends and family traveling to spend the holidays with you, give them a retreat to stay in. Make them feel at home by setting the room as so. Add a headboard, fresh bedding and throw blankets to ensure coziness. Be thoughtful about artwork and lighting to not give the impression this is an after-thought room. Put on your hospitality hat by providing a welcome basket that includes shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, a candle and matches, and a small snack pack as they settle in. It doesn’t have to be elaborate to be appreciated.
There is plenty to do before the most wonderful time of the year is here. If you’re looking to make major home improvements to create new memories in, please give our showroom a call at 651-337-2184 to get started!
Cheers to the weekend,
Interior Impressions Team
