Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial official launch of the summer season. In Minnesota, we kick off the warm season by enjoying the outdoors and putting boats in the water over the long weekend. Whether you’re grilling out at home or opening the cabin, we’ve put together some entertaining tips that will get you from Memorial Day, through Fourth of July and to Labor Day this summer.
Embrace Your Style
We take advantage of the opportunity to go bold with color and pattern when designing an outdoor space. Your outdoor space does not have to match your interior decor, but we caution going overboard. Focus your energy on styling with a theme or color in mind. Compliment warm and cool tones together to marry into a theme. Choose fun accessories and serverwear, including serving dishes and utensils, outdoor pillows and rugs, that follow suit.
Consider Your Ambiance
In addition to selecting colors and patterns that fit the theme of your outdoor furniture and decor, also consider the vibes you’re trying to put off in this space. Incorporate music through the use of a bluetooth speaker, outdoor speakers or strumming your own guitar. Bring hygge vibes with string lights, lanterns and candles to create intimate coziness.
Create a Crafted Cocktail
Show off your hosting skills with a specialty cocktail. When crafting a summer cocktail, our formula includes a selected spirit, citrus, fresh herbs, and a mixer to bind it all together. Adorn your specialty cocktail with a carefully crafted moniker that means something to you: an emotion + your favorite sports team, the weather + your boat’s name, your favorite color + pet’s name. The combinations are endless, and yes, we’d love to try your Vivacious Viking or Blue Jolie.
Maximize Your Best Utensils: Your Hands
Your guests can’t play corn hole or jet ski while fussing with silverware. We are team #noutensils when it comes to fueling up during the day. Choose grab and go style snacks that allows your guests to keep moving. One of our favorite finger-licking favorites are the painfully easy ranch covered pretzels. Divide in small bowls or cups to take anywhere. When entertaining outdoors, don’t give in to the pressure of being overelaborate at meal time. Keep things simple and tasty with seasoned corn on the cob, grilled chicken sandwiches, and large cuts of watermelon.
Most importantly when entertaining, make sure you join the party. Don’t get stuck running from kitchen to patio all day long. Your guests came to visit you, be with them!
Thanks for reading and enjoy your weekend!
