With the start of December comes gratitude, holiday cheer, and….stress for many as presents need to be wrapped, homes need to be decorated, and hosts plan a stay for relatives from near and far away. To keep spirits bright, we want to share with you different holiday decor ideas to guide you. In the essence of saving time, we are giving you glimpses of ideas and providing you with the sources of some of our favorite finds this season!
MERRY & BRIGHT
The “Muted Minnesota” reputation (just made that up) is not one you have to claim in your home. We often stay in our safety zone and stick to neutral colors to keep things cozy and timeless, in which there is no problem with. We can be shy about committing to bold colors in our home….But, we’re here to tell you that you don’t have to stick to neutrals! Have you been eyeing a statement piece with bright and bold colors, or maybe an out-there wallpaper? Go for it! You can still find ways to make colorful and playful work throughout the year and find holiday decor to coordinate. Just look at our beautiful vestibule tree at our showroom above to see how wonderfully a “bold & bright” holiday could work. The colorful bulbs were found at Target, and some were from Shannon’s home.
PRETTY IN PLAID
First off, the little mouse ornament from Target steals the show! He is sporting a fashionable plaid scarf which is perfect for our “Pretty In Plaid” decor theme, but he is versatile and you can pop him in with any decor theme (why wouldn’t you?). In the first option, we incorporated plaid with a plaid table runner from Home Goods and buffalo check napkins from Pier 1 Imports. The wooden houses from Target and the wood slice charger give our plaid look a Northern Lumberjack feel. Stop at Trader Joe’s before your holiday gathering for some fresh greenery and berries to add color, texture, and an outdoor feel to your tablescape.
A VERY HYGGE HOLIDAY
You will see that we incorporated the faux fur snow leopard table runner from Pier 1 Imports in every theme, because it was our favorite find this season! We did cross themes a bit and put some plaid in our hygge theme with Magnolia napkins from Target. The Scandinavian and very hygge red and white place is believed to have been found at Pier 1 Imports, however it is sadly not found on their website anymore. The ornament was also found at Pier 1 Imports as well. Placing an ornament is a fun way to add flair to your tablescape.
MERRY METALLIC
A classy black, white and gold holiday scene is one you can’t go wrong with. Bringing in metallics fancies up the place but not to the point of feeling stuffy. Crisp gold flatware on your table will shine. You can find our gold flatware at CB2. The buffalo check napkin against the gold makes for a great look paired with . The gold decorative trees were found at the Dollar Store years ago and are still holding strong.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM OUR SHOWROOM
Our showroom manager, Shannon’s mother, Katie was gracious enough to decorate our tree while she was in town over Thanksgiving. We were blown away when we came back to work and saw what a magnificent job she did! Unfortunately she is not for hire here in Minnesota, as she is a North Carolina native. To tie in with the Christmas tree, Shannon found emerald green velvet pillows for our sofa which went well with faux fur pillows and a faux fur throw we already had at our showroom along with the gold sequin lumbar pillow.
Thanks for reading! We are wishful that you and your families will have a wonderful, cozy and bright holiday season this year!
Cheers,
Interior Impressions team
