Hey y’all! As many of you may know, the Interior Impressions team recently traveled to High Point, North Carolina for the Furniture Market. The Furniture Market happens twice a year, once in the Fall and once in the Spring, and it’s a chance for buyers, builders, designers, and others in the design industry to see new products, trends, and displays from well known and new vendors. Fun fact, High Point is known as the “Home Furnishings Capital Of The World”, according to Wikipedia. We each narrowed down our top 10 favorite products, and noted trends we saw during our trip to High Point Market. Since we have so much to share, this is Part 1 featuring favorites from Amy, Shannon, and Jordan.
AMY
MY STYLE: I am drawn towards two different styles. I love a fresh Traditional look with clean, classic lines, beautiful fabrics and colors. The epitomy of the style I envision would be similar to Thibaut, a wallpaper, high end furniture, and fabric company. Thibaut often showcases a timeless, yet bold and fresh look. It’s a company that is not afraid of color or mixing patterns! I also love a Coastal look that is more casual, a mix of natural materials, white oak with woven textures. The best part about design is that you can take a few things from multiple styles and make it all work together!

TRENDS: Natural woven textures, rattan, and floral prints were three trends I noticed. My favorite is the Coastal look that has become more and more popular. Vintage rugs with the hand-knotted look that are actually now being made in polyester, for example, are very popular. Lighter wood tones mixed with white and soft neutrals is another trend that I am into.
SHANNON (Knutson)
MY STYLE: What I am drawn to is the Coastal style, as it gives a fresh, clean look and it just makes me happy! I love mixing different textures and patterns, and love adding in some rattan pieces. Lighter colors, navy blue, and different variations of blues mixed with neutrals fits a Coastal aesthetic. One brand/showroom that spoke to me was Universal Furniture‘s Coastal Living line – it is so inviting! I like a cozy Farmhouse style; I’m a huge fan of buffalo check and the Joanna Gaines look. At market, I was drawn to basket lights, tassels, and beaded light fixtures, which tells me that I have a touch of Bohemian in me as well. Also, the more the greenery in a room, the better!

TRENDS: Barrel swivel chairs, global-influenced textures and fabrics, bench cushions, mid-century modern vibes, fun colors and patterns are all trends that I noted during High Point Market on our Instagram story. I love the playfulness of mixing textures and patterns, which I saw a lot of during Market.
JORDAN
MY STYLE: I tend to lean towards a more Modern, Bohemian style with masculine touches and I found lots of products I adore at market. It was hard to narrow down my list! I want to walk into a room and feel creatively inspired, comfortable, and cozy. Mixing light, soft neutrals with brown leather, a little velvet, intriguing patterns, subtle pops of color, and lots of greenery sounds like an idealistic scene to me. The two brands that I found best captured my favorite looks/styles were Four Hands and Selamat.

TRENDS: Some of the trends I saw at market, and have also been seeing in the design industry include rattan, bamboo, and woven light fixtures, furniture, etc., global influences, console tables with seating underneath (ottomans, benches) and lots of animals – animals in art, sculptures, and fabrics. Most common animals I saw? Hippos and llamas…weird, huh? I love it, though. Also, Edison bulbs are not going away any time soon. I saw lots of oversized Edison bulbs, which is such a cool look!
Thanks for reading! Next week’s blog will feature Shannon, Brittany, and Hannah including their favorite products and trends. Stay tuned, and have a wonderful weekend!
With love,
