Independence Day is only a week away! Are you entertaining for the 4th of July? Today on the blog, we’ll be covering a few key components of entertaining: Decor, Food, and Fashion. We found some great products and delicious recipes for a 4th of July party that we can’t wait to share with you! Check out what we ate, drank, wore, and our cute decor from our *early* Interior Impressions 4th Celebration.
DECOR
Specific 4th of July Red, White, and Blue decor can get a little cheesy and hard to reuse. We found some timeless dishware that can be great for other occasions, as well as other multipurpose items such as a rustic wood pizza board (seen below). The Europe 2 You pizza board is available at our store and comes in 2 different sizes. It’s versatile, beautiful, and can be used as a great statement piece in your kitchen when not in use. This pizza board was a great serving piece for appetizers during our party. As you can see below, we used an adorable cake stand that Amy has had for years (source unknown). We used a red and white polka dot ribbon, and the ribbon can be changed for different occasions. You can likely find similar cake stands at stores such as Home Goods, Target, Marshall’s, etc. In addition to having on point dishware for decor, flowers are the perfect addition to any party. The navy and white striped vase we used was found at JoAnn Fabrics. The white peonies and eucalyptus below were found at Trader Joe’s, aren’t they gorgeous? Trader Joe’s has never let us down when it comes to last minute flowers. Find links to products below.
For a Nautical 4th of July theme, we paired a navy dinner plate with a starfish salad plate from Pottery Barn. Placed on top was a navy gingham napkin with starfish napkin rings. Our glassware was also nautical-inspired, as we used braided rope champagne flutes (see above). Find links for these items below.

FOOD & DRINK
DESSERT:
The darling chocolate, mascarpone and raspberry treats were from Woodbury’s local bakery, Dorothy Ann Bakery & Cafe. They are cute as ever and even more delicious!
DRINK:
A recently popular drink, frosé, was a must have for our party. This was the third time I have made the recipe and it is a favorite! It takes awhile for this recipe to come to fruition, but it is totally worth the wait! Tip: You can control the sweetness level depending on which rosé you use in the recipe, and how much sugar you use for the homemade syrup. Reminder: You can find recipes, ideas, and products from this post on our Pinterest “Entertaining” board here. Link to Bon Appetit’s Frosé recipe here.
APPETIZER:
The toasts were a crowd-pleaser! If you’re a freestyle cook like some of us, you can get creative with toasts and make up your own recipes. If you’re not confident in your creative cooking skills, there are endless options you can find on Google or Pinterest (see our Pinterest board for some fun recipes). Most of the ingredients required were bought at Trader Joe’s, but can be found elsewhere. Here are the toasts we made for our 4th of July shindig with ingredients listed below:
Avocado Toast
1 Slice of Trader Joe’s Tuscan Pane Bread
1/4 – 1/2 Avocado
~ 1 Tsp Bare Honey
~ 1/2 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes
~ 1/2 Tsp Sea Salt
Caprese Toast
1 Slice of Trader Joe’s Tuscan Pane Bread
2-3 slices of Trader Joe’s Mozzarella Cheese Log
~1/4 sliced tomato – Trader Joe’s Tomatoes On The Vine
Drizzle with balsamic glaze (optional)
Top with Trader Joe’s Organic Basil
Prosciutto Toast
1 Slice of Trader Joe’s Tuscan Pane Bread
Trader Joe’s Sliced Prosciutto
Trader Joe’s Unexpected Cheddar Cheese
Pine Nuts (optional)
“4th of July” Toast
1 Slice of Trader Joe’s Tuscan Pane Bread
Driscoll’s Strawberries sliced
Driscoll’s Blueberries
~1/8 of log of Trader Joe’s Chevre Honey Goat’s Milk Cheese
~ 1 Tsp Bare Honey
DIRECTIONS: Bake bread at 400 degrees for 7-8 minutes on baking sheet. Optional to butter the bread prior to baking. Add ingredients after letting cool for ~2 minutes.
Out of the four options, it was hard to pick a favorite! If you are making toasts outdoors, you can grill the bread instead of bake it. In addition to having a grill, just bring a knife and a cutting board and you should be all set.
FASHION
Our 4th of July fashion picks feature a navy, red, and white jumpsuit, red tassel earrings, and a woven “Hello” tote bag. The jumper/jumpsuit was a score from Target and is an item that you can enjoy all summer long, not just for the 4th. It is extremely comfortable and versatile – you can dress it up or keep it casual, and wear for a variety of occasions. Target has some favorable options for jumpers/jumpsuits right now and they recently had a Buy 1 get 1 50% off deal for all jumpsuits… be sure to check it out! The red tassel earrings were found on Amazon and were quick to ship. You can find the adorable woven “Hello” tote bags with red or navy lettering in our store. The tote bag is great for various occasions, like a picnic or a day trip to the beach. Find links for items below 😉
Thanks for reading! We hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!
