Is your master bedroom a retreat or a neglected space?
Why is it that the master bedroom is often the last room to get any love and attention in our homes? It makes sense that more common areas are the first places you decorate, since those are the rooms that your guests will see. My husband and I like to say that our bedroom is our “charging” station. Much like cell phones, our batteries are drained at the end of the day and we need that sweet, deep sleep to recharge. The problem is..it’s hard to do so when you have clothes lying around, mismatched/disheveled bedding, blank walls, and poor storage. If your bedroom is out of whack, you may be too! Here are 5 beautiful master bedrooms with different design styles to inspire you to create a space that offers you comfort, relaxation and sanctuary at the end of the day.
1. PEACEFUL PALETTE
This gorgeous master is serene, unassuming, and inviting. The dark, rich wood floor makes this room feel warm and cozy. The natural fiber shades and curtains give us a cabana feel while instilling confidence that they can block the heck outta that sun in the morning. Although this room is primarily neutral and loaded with natural materials, it packs some perfectly balanced pops of color with just the right touch of brass and deep blue. This master bedroom is pretty enough to show off to others, yet it’s casual enough to make you feel like lounging in pajamas all day long.
2. PILLOWY OASIS
This master bedroom is subtle glam all the way. It is just enough formal, and you could go to bed every night feeling like a king or queen. It perfectly blends a clean, neutral palette without making it feel boring. The crown molding, tall headboard, and heightened panels are the details that make it feel elegant. The cozy layers and textures make this room friendly. Can you imagine having breakfast in bed in this room? How romantic!
3. COLORFUL GRACE
For as many different colors as there are in this room, it is surprising how relaxing and restful it feels. The blue grasscloth wallpaper with white wainscoting are a perfect marriage in this space. The soft, feminine canopy bed frame is elegantly enhanced by the framed prints on the walls. Just a touch of olive green, blush pink and colorful floral prints add a bit of whimsy. If you want to incorporate multiple colors into your master retreat, here is a gorgeous example of how to do it gracefully!
4. COASTAL CALM
Can’t you just hear the ocean waves? Distressed white wood furniture pairs well with the light carpeting in this coastal palace. The crisp, white bedding gains coastal flair when paired with navy blue stripes and natural jute. We are loving the combination of these fresh textiles with traditional and vintage elements, such as the finials, the curves in that cute bench, and antique ship print above a timeless linen headboard. Of course, nothing is completely coastal without a little white shiplap. The use of the beams and shiplap on the peaked ceiling creates a notably gorgeous view from your pillow!
5. TRANSITIONAL OASIS
We like to use neutral bedding for versatility and a fresh look. I personally love to change out my throw pillows and duvet cover seasonally to keep things fresh. This room plays with soft patterns and metals. We tried to balance the perfect mix of organic and glam in this room. You’ll find pops of “bling” in the nailhead trim, mirrored nightstands, chrome & crystal drapery hardware, bench details and mercury glass lamps. There are natural, coastal elements as well, such as the wood beaded chandelier, organic cotton bedding, and distressed wood frames that showcase some of our client’s favorite beach spots. What better way for this busy Mom to be reminded of tranquil nights by the sea, falling asleep to the sound of the waves? Sweet dreams 🙂
We would love to help you create a special sanctuary in your home. Your master bedroom retreat awaits you!
XO,
Amy
